The Women Behind Latch Lab NY
Meet Deanna
Deanna is a Registered Nurse and Certified Lactation Counselor with a strong clinical background and a passion for supporting mothers throughout their breastfeeding journeys.
She earned her nursing degree from New York University and went on to work in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at NYU Langone. There, she gained invaluable experience caring for patients and families during some of their most vulnerable moments.
As a mother, Deanna brings more than four years of personal breastfeeding experience to her work. Her own journey gave her a deep appreciation for both the beautiful and challenging sides of breastfeeding and ultimately inspired her to help other mothers feel more confident, informed, and supported.
At Latch Lab NY, Deanna combines her nursing background, lactation education, and personal perspective as a nursing mother to provide thoughtful, individualized care throughout each family’s feeding journey.
Meet Vana
Vana is a Certified Lactation Counselor with a bachelor’s degree in health science. She has a unique background in emergency care, public service, and motherhood. Before becoming an FDNY Firefighter, she served as an FDNY EMT, where she gained experiences that shaped her ability to remain compassionate, calm, reassuring, and supportive while helping people through challenging moments.
As a mother, Vana brings more than six years of personal breastfeeding experience. Her own breastfeeding journey sparked a passion for helping other mothers feel confident, understood, and supported as they navigate feeding their babies. After returning to work, Vana learned firsthand how to create a pumping routine that fit into a busy schedule while continuing to meet her breastfeeding goals.
At Latch Lab NY, Vana combines her lactation education, years of breastfeeding experience, and background in emergency care to provide personalized support that makes breastfeeding or pumping feel a little easier and less overwhelming.
