Our Story
Although Deanna and Vana each had their own unique journey into motherhood, it was their shared experiences that ultimately inspired Latch Lab NY. The two became family when Vana married Deanna’s cousin, while both women were still young and had not yet started families of their own.
Together, their journeys have included five children, countless hours of nursing, and nearly every challenge that can accompany breastfeeding, from painful latching difficulties and milk-supply concerns to pumping, mastitis, thyroid disorder, breast surgery and everything in between. Both are still nursing mothers today, so these experiences remain very much a part of their everyday lives.
Over the years, Deanna and Vana shared advice, compared experiences, and supported one another through the joys and challenges of feeding their babies. They began to imagine how meaningful it would be to share their combined knowledge and offer that same reassurance to other mothers.
With the encouragement of their husbands and families, those conversations grew into a plan, and voilà, Latch Lab NY was born: a team created by mothers, for mothers.
